Juichiro Yamasaki nasceu em 1978 em Osaka, Japão. Estudou antropologia na Kyoto Bunkyo University, dirigiu curtas-metragens e participou da curadoria do Kyoto International Student Film Festival. Em 2006, mudou-se para a aldeia de seu pai nas montanhas de Maniwa, Okayama. Em 2011, dirigiu The Sound of Light, convidado para o Festival Internacional de Cinema de Roterdã e para o Festival Internacional de Cinema de Tóquio. Seu segundo longa-metragem, Sanchu Uprising: Voice at Dawn, filme de época sobre a revolta camponesa ocorrida em Maniwa no século 18, foi lançado em 2014. Em 2021, filmou em 16mm, seu terceiro longa-metragem, Yamabuki.

Juichiro Yamasaki was born in 1978 in Osaka, Japan. He studied anthropology at Kyoto Bunkyo University, directed short films and participated in the programming of the Kyoto International Student Film Festival. In 2006, he moved to his father’s mountain village in Maniwa, Okayama. In 2011, he directed The Sound of Light, invited to the Rotterdam International Film Festival and the Tokyo International Film Festival. His second feature film, Sanchu Uprising: Voice at Dawn, a period film about the peasant uprising that took place in Maniwa in the 18th century, was released in 2014. In 2021, he shot his third feature film, Yamabuki, in 16mm.
